(John 16:13) ‘He will guide you into all the truth’ – Unless you are led to see the truth by the Spirit, you will never see it.
(1 Cor 2:14) adds to this ‘The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only thorough the Spirit’

We can read into this with various insight and outcomes. Natural versus Supernatural, Subjective versus Objective and so on, but if you look at it plain and simple (which is how I like to look at things most of the time), it’s about relationship and humbling ourselves to asking the Holy Spirit to help us.

The Holy Spirit will guide us if we ask him and if we lay down our own pride and stubbornness. If we think we’ve got it all sorted and operate out of our own strength then don’t expect the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us. He requires an invitation into our lives.

Once invited he will be our heavenly guide in the Word and how we live our lives. He becomes our helper. He will reveal new-found truth in the Bible that we’ve not yet seen, he will reveal truth in our lives, in relationships with others and beyond.

If we want to live an un-compromised life for Christ, if we want to live set apart from this world, holy and belonging to God, if we want to be radical in our faith and be a partaker in the truth and not just a spectator in our understanding of God then we need the Holy Spirit in our lives, in our church and in our everyday!

Let’s pray … Holy Spirit of truth, I thank you that you will never mislead me or deceive me. I am thankful that it is impossible for you to lie. I ask you to correct me where I have got it wrong. Help me to invite you into all aspects of my life and help lead me into the truth. Amen
